SPKSB is organised into six wings. Public project listings are currently available for TSIU and ASIU. The other wings publish their purpose.
A secondary six-wing Seraphim mark is under development and is not yet in use. The current SPKSB logo remains the official mark.
TSIU: Theoretical Special Investigative Unit
Develops theory, mathematics, computational methods, simulations and models for biological systems.
Current projects
Serial T-REMD. Temperature Replica Exchange Molecular Dynamics on a single GPU by serialising replicas, rather than assigning one GPU per replica. Led by Dhruva Gadiparthi.
RNA/DNA Origami Dynamics. Free-energy landscapes, metastable modes, kinetic trapping and motion design for RNA and DNA nanostructures.
KANBench. Benchmarking of Kolmogorov-Arnold Network implementations against traditional MLPs, focused on performance, parameter count and realistic GPU runtime. Led by Srikar Kampalli, with engineering support from Bhavesh Senthil Kumar.
ASIU: Applicational Special Investigative Unit
Develops physical systems, instruments, automation, robotics and hardware in support of SPKSB research.
Current projects
BOBBER. A low-cost platform for aquatic monitoring, live microscopy and continuous observation of microbial ecosystems. Hardware development is in progress. Led by Dhruva Gadiparthi (architect and designer). Primary engineering: Hari Maiyya and Bhavesh Senthil Kumar.
Project Protozoopalooza. A related public platform concept for live-streamed microscopic ecosystems and longer-term observation records. Architect: Dhruva Gadiparthi.
SKBE: Subprovision for Kinetic Biology Education
Produces teaching materials, tutorials, outreach and training on advanced kinetic biology.
No public projects are listed at this time. Education page
OSIU: Open Systems Infrastructure Unit
Maintains digital infrastructure: websites, databases, software repositories, documentation, APIs and cloud systems.
No public projects are listed at this time.
ECSU: Experimental Collaboration & Systems Unit
Coordinates collaboration with wet laboratories, including validation studies, partnerships, joint projects, data interpretation and protocols.
No public projects are listed at this time.
DSIU: Discovery & Strategic Innovation Unit
Reviews emerging scientific directions, future projects, grant concepts and longer-term research priorities.
No public projects are listed at this time. Prospective programmes under review include deeper work in psychological studies and neuro-biophysics.
